Micro-elements are key
to plan to help us decide on what we want to create and how to create responses
from the audience.
Cinematography:
A close up will show the
female’s facial expression of fear. This to emphasise the upset and pain she is
feeling. She will show tears and looking unstable. This will help give the
audience and understanding that she is vulnerable and they will feel sorry for
her. This is conventional to a thriller as close ups are almost always used for
emphasis to emotion to the audience.
A high angle will be used when the female victim
is trying to escape the mental home. We have chosen to use this high angle to
show the character as inferior and vulnerable. This is conventional to a
thriller because it shows vulnerability in victim which is usually what is
shown in thrillers and this will help make the audience feel sorry for her that
she in such a bad state.
A Long shot will be used at the end when the
female victim has escaped the mental home and is wondering around in the streets
on her own. We have chosen to use this because it's a shot where we can see all
the busy cars and surroundings making her appear quite small and lost. This is
to emphasise her poor situation.
A zoom in will be used
when the camera will go into her face at a fast speed when she looks quite
demented. It zooms into see her face as
we want her to look like she is really affected by her situation. This dramatic
movement will scare the audience and make them feel nervous.
Editing:
A Fade to black will be used when we show our credits. This
will happen as we also introduce our main characters as we found this was
conventional in thriller films. This will immediately create fear from our audience
which is what we want and black is a conventional colour to thriller films.
A Fade to white or a flash to white will be used when the
female character has a flashback when she is with her baby. This will be used
to show that it is a flashback and make the audience be more aware of what is
going on in our story.
Jump cuts will be used when the female character is first introduced. This
is because we want to show different parts of her body to create mystery and
fear around her.
Sound:
Non-diegetic sound will be used when we show our credits and our different
characters. It will sound slow, mysterious and cold. This is because we want it
to create an uneasy feeling from our audience.
Voice-over
narration: This will be used when we hear a man over the images of the girl revealing
what has happened to this girl and her baby. This is to help the audience make
sense of what is going on in the narrative.
This
planning of micro has been beneficial as it is helping us see what our production
will look like.
Well done. Evidence that you have planned out some of your uses of micro-elements and justification on why you have selected them.
